Wyoming Unit 102 Antelope Description
Occupied antelope habitat includes nearly all areas off the Bighorn National Forest. Topography ranges from broken foothills along the mountain to gentle terrain away from the mountain. Habitats include grassland, sagebrush-grassland and irrigated ag lands.
This hunt area is characterized by high antelope densities. Although the buck ratio is high, expect to see average buck horn growth. There is considerable public access in this hunt area including the WGFD Bud Love Wildlife Management Area and Wyoming State Trust lands. Limited numbers of antelope occupy grassland habitat on the Bighorn National Forest during summer and early fall. Antelope numbers are higher on private lands once hunting season begins so expect more difficult hunting on public lands, including high hunter densities. Hunter densities are highest the first few days of the hunting season so hunters planning a hunt later in the season will see fewer hunters in the field. Access to hunt private lands can be difficult to secure with most opportunity limited to outfitted or trespass fee hunting.
