Colorado Unit 741 Description
Unit 741 Hermosa Region: Las Plata County bounded on the North by U.S. 160; on the East by Animas River; on the South by the New Mexioc border; on the West by Montezuma-La Plata County line.
Elevations range from about 6,000 feet near the New Mexico border to well over 12,000 feet near Silverton. An abundance of vegetation provides good summer range, but winter range on the south is declining because of development. Most of the land in GMU 741 is private or part of the Southern Ute Indian Reservation. Only members of the tribe can hunt on the reservation.
